A Perfect 3 for 3!!!

So we are a perfect 3 for 3 on having children in the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit). All of which have stayed a week or more in there. Our latest arrival Sophia, is currently enjoying her stay there. Her arrival was the result an unexpected series of events. First off, Andrea was in a serious car accident that totalled our new car.



She was hospitalized, released, then hospitalized again. Then finally on Valentines Day Sophia was born via c-section.




She is a "strong" little stinker. So strong in fact, that she perforated her own lung breathing too hard to get oxygen. She then had to be placed back on the ventilator and have a chest tube put in to help re-inflate her collapsed lung as a result of the perforation. Fortunately that has all healed and the chest tube has been removed. We are now awaiting for her to gain enough strength to consistently eat from a bottle in order to bring her home.

I heard a ruckus and walked out of my bedroom and this is what I find Gavin laughing and screaming about. Merrick grabbed the stepladder that was sitting in the other room and moved it into the hallway so he could play with the lights. So I take the stepladder and put it in the garage.

When I return this is what I found. He was now trying to get to the thermostat.


So if we show up to a family party and Merrick has a broken limb you will all know why. When people see how he is it makes me wonder how many people think we are lying about his heart problem. Geez, I even have my doubts about what the Dr's have said after seeing him pull stunts like this. The boys now have bunk beds and it only took Merrick one day to figure out how to get down. Getting up it was never a problem, he scaled Donovin's (Mike and Cam oldest) bunk bed about 6 months ago so he already had that figured out.

He's a climber that's all there is to it. It's so surprising for us because Gavin was never like that. He still isn't for that matter. It's getting to the point where I can now gadge how much trouble Merrick is getting into by how hard Gavin is laughing and carrying on.
